Four Music Venues to Check Out in Nashville

Nashville is an amazing place full of great food, beer, important history and culture. So let’s talk about Nashville and the culture of music.

Music is so synonymous with the city that everyone knows Nashville as “Music City,” but where should you go to see the best live music? Let me tell you about some of the best music venues in Nashville.

The Ryman Auditorium

Also known as “The Mother Church of Country Music,” is a historic music venue that is monumental for country and bluegrass music. The Ryman Auditorium was home to the Grand Ole Opry radio show for 31 years. It is one of Nashville’s most loved venues and has hosted many groundbreaking artists in its longstanding history.

The Basement East

So Country music isn’t your thing, well then we also have The Basement East, which typically hosts more rock and/or alternative artists, which is fitting for the venue’s dark, grungy vibe. it is a very intimate venue, and you will feel incredibly close to the artists that are performing. P.S. stop at the Five Points Pizza down the street for some of the best pizza Nashville has to offer.

Mercy Lounge

The Mercy Lounge is actually in a building housed with two other music venues, The Cannery Ballroom, and The High Watt. The Cannery Ballroom is the larger venue with a 1,000 person capacity, and usually hosts well known artists from across the world. The High Watt is smaller with a 250 person capacity and was opened to hosts upcoming artists.

Ascend Amphitheater

Ascend Amphitheater is one of the prettiest venues you can visit in Nashville with it’s view of the city in the background and the venue being open-air. This is a larger venue in Nashville with a total capacity of 6,800, with 4,500 being on the lawn and 2,300 in seats. You can get rowdy in the pit or lay out on the lawn and have a great time.

All of these are fantastic venues that I would recommend to anyone for a date night, night out with friends, or just to have a good time alone, which I also advocate for, you should never feel bad about going out alone, and if any of these piqued your interest find a touring artist you like that is playing one or check out some of the burgeoning underground artists in Nashville, have fun!
